It is being reported that Keith Urban may be taking the stage with Scotty McCreery at the 2011 CMA Awards next week!

Keith Urban expressed his regret that he was unable to play the guitar for 'Walk in the Country', which is Scotty McCreery's sixth track on his album, "Clear As Day". The song was originally recorded by Urban for his 1997 album 'The Ranch' but he kindly offered it up for Scotty to cut for his own debut album.

Christmas Songs

@ScottyMcCreery: Im hitting the hay tho. Another day of school tmrrw. Working a bunch of songs coming up for the holidays! Cant wait for yall to hear!

If there's anything that Scotty McCreery has learned about being a famous country singer, it's that the best way to get fans riled up is by teasing them with new music. The 'I Love You This Big' hitmaker sent a suspcious tweet to his Twitter followers this week, very subtly hinting that he might be working on a holiday release. We can't help but wonder if that means we'll get a full Christmas album from the 'American Idol' winner, or if he'll simply be releasing a jolly new single — but we'll settle for either.

Scotty may win a GRAMMY?

Sometime next month the official nominated list should be released, but Scotty McCreery is one of the many incredible artists/groups battling it out this year to be nominated.

Unfortunately, this is not a fan-voted process, so we can only keep our fingers crossed and our hopes high....who's to say he can't win a Grammy too!?

"Clear As Day" No. 3

This week’s predictions are in from Hits Daily Double. Three weeks after it's release, Scotty McCreery's debut album "Clear As Day" is still going strong. It is predicted to come in at No. 3 with 55K in sales!

Reba McEntire Scotty McCreery's "No. 1 Cheerleader"

CR: GAC
Reba McEntire isn't shy about championing American Idol stars Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina.

“I’m supporting them 100 percent,” Reba told St. Louis Today. "It's tough getting in this business. I’m their No. 1 cheerleader. I wish the best for all of them. It’s a lot different from when I got started. I didn't have a No. 1 record for five or six years.

Scotty McCreery has confirmed rumors that he’ll be touring with Brad Paisley next year. The ‘American Idol’ winnertweeted late Tuesday night, “so have yall heard the HUGE news! I’m heading out on the road with @BradPaisley in 2012!”
Fans at Sunday night’s Paisley concert in Raleigh, N.C. overheard the country superstar nonchalantly ask McCreery if he wanted to tour with him next year. McCreery nodded and Paisley said, “Great, I’m going to take you out next year!” Apparently invitations to play amphitheaters across the country come with all of the formality of one middle-schooler asking another the junior high dance.
“It’s really humbling that somebody like him would invite me to tour w/ him. I just hope i’m ready for any pranks he throws my way.. haha,” McCreery said in a separate tweet. He got a firsthand look at how crazy the pranks could be on Sunday night, as Paisley and the other H2O II artists were at each other all afternoon, and throughout Paisley’s set.
McCreery grew up just minutes away from the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek in Raleigh. He was at the show as a fan, but quickly found himself backstage hanging out with Paisley. It seems likely that the two spoke about touring together before the show, but nobody knew it was official until the soon to be 18-year-old made it so on Twitter.

Scotty McCreery Sings The National Anthem World Series Game 1 10/19/2011

During Fox's telecast of the World Series on Wednesday night, they had someone with a pretty loyal fan base come out and perform the National Anthem -- "American Idol" champion Scotty McCreery.

So how did he do? The good news for Scotty is that he managed to handle most everything without a problem -- and his biggest challenge actually wasn't the song. Instead, the guy's microphone was not working when he started to sing, and he eventually had to start over with a working mic.

As for the song itself, Scotty did a top-notch job worthy of the show's biggest stagehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGQAElemYUg&feature=player_embedded

Scotty McCreery’s Already Writing New Songs for Next Album

Scotty McCreery released ‘Clear as Day’ just two weeks ago, but he’s already looking forward to his sophomore project. In a recent interview, the singer says he’s hoping to write a number of songs to be considered for his next album.“We’re going to give this album a few months before we start getting the songs picked for the next one,” McCreery tells HitFix, “but I want to keep writing about life experiences and relatable things to people.”
One song that’s near completion is for his high school football team. The 18-year-old says he and a friend wrote something for the Garner Trojans before he left for ‘American Idol.’ “Getting a song together for that because playoffs are coming up. We want to give them something to pump them up. Hopefully, one of my songs can make the album next time.”
It’s unlikely fans will get new music from the ‘The Trouble With Girls’ singer soon. One figures McCreery will release at least one, maybe two more songs to the radio before he moves on to a new project. He’ll want to have plenty for audiences on the Brad Paisley tour to be familiar with when the pair hit the road next summer.

5 Reasons Scotty McCreery's Doing Everything Right

Scotty McCreery won season 10 of "American Idol," but he's a winner in more ways than one. The 18-year-old Garner, North Carolina native's first country album, "Clear as Day," shot to the top of the Billboard charts. The cute country singer is the youngest male artist to see a debut release open in the No. 1 spot. In addition, no other country artist this year has seen album sales rank as high in the first week.

"I feel on top of the world," said Scotty. "It's been a pretty wild last nine months."

There are plenty of talented singers, but to make it in the industry you have to possess more than that. There are at least five reasons why McCreery is doing everything right.

He puts his faith in a higher power

It seems the country singer always mentions his faith when he's doing interviews. In fact, the Christian wears a bracelet that says "I am second" in obedience to God. "I'm just taking it all in and enjoying life and thanking God for everything he's been giving me because this has truly been a blessing to be able to do this," said the season 10 winner.

Whether a person is Christian, Buddhist, or some other faith, absorbing the positive wisdom of a higher power has proven to help make it in life.

He's humble and hardworking

Even though the Garner native won "Idol," he's under no illusions that it will be a piece of cake from here on out. He knows there's a lot of hard work ahead, despite the fact that he's gotten the attention of the big country names, such as Brad Paisley who asked the young artist to tour with him.

"I've gotta put in the work like those guys did, and hopefully one day I can be like them and be around in20 years still making music," said Scotty. "That's the ultimate goal. It's a long process. There's a lot of work that goes into that."
He puts school first

One would think that a winner of the most popular reality music show would have no interest in college. Not McCreery. He plans to attend college after graduation.

"We're looking to apply to some schools coming up pretty soon. We're looking at some different options and different schools out there. After high school, I'll still be working and making music, but I'll be in college as well," says the famous high school student.

He doesn't get into trouble

When it comes to the "Clear as Day" singer's track record - it's squeaky clean. There is no scandal in the young singer's life.

He's focused on one type of music

Like fellow "Idol" winner Carrie Underwood, Scotty chose to focus on his first love - country music. Randy Jackson, the only original judge on "American Idol," would say that's a smart move. He feels that Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry have done a better job than Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.

"You're not going, 'Well, I could be a painter, but I want to drive race cars. But I can do R&B, pop, jazz soul ... Maybe I think I'm more like Bono, but I could be more like Sting. But I'm gonna be like Lady Gaga, but I'm kind of like Justin Hawkins from the Darkness.' You can't be five people. You can only be one, and we have to make that choice," said Jackson.

Scotty McCreery Talks Music And Baseball

American Idol winner Scotty McCreery has revealed how he was absolutely delighted when his debut album Clear As Day went to number one as he was not expecting. Scotty also admitted that he was looking forward to singing the National Anthem on the opening day of the World Series of Baseball on October 19.

McCreery explained, “My hopes were just to go out there and have fun and let people know that the album was out there. Everybody hopes for the number one, but you never really expect it. To see it up there is pretty incredible.” Scotty then spoke about his love of baseball.

He added, “This is absolutely incredible for me. I have had two loves in life – music and baseball. The World Series is the biggest event in baseball, so to be there and be able to sing the National Anthem is like putting my two greatest loves together. I am looking forward to seeing which two teams will be playing.”

Icon Vs. Icon Sits Down with Scotty to Talk 'Clear As Day,' Baseball & His Very Bright Future

The past year has been nothing short of life changing for blossiming country music superstar Scotty McCreery. It started simply enough as he was just your everyday high school student in his hometown of Garner, North Carolina, working as a bagger in a local grocery store and spending his off-time playing baseball. It didnt' take long for America to fall in love with him in early 2011 when he appeared on "American Idol" and immediately made a name for himself with his undeniably country voice, small-town roots and unwaivering conviction. As Season Ten of "American Idol" drew to a close, the people of America spoke! A record breaking 122.4 million votes were cast for the finale and nearly 39 million people tuned in to see the winner's name announced. Since he was crowned champion, it has been a whirlwind of recording sessions, traveling, live performances and promotion.

This year his album debuted number #1! Whats gonna happen next year on his Birthday?

Scotty McCreery tops Billboards!

American Idol winner Scotty McCreery made history today as the youngest male artist to top the Billboard 200 chart with a debut release. Clear As Day, which came out October 4, moved 196,739 in its first week, good for the No. 1 spot. He is the first new country artist so far in 2011 to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The last time a country singer achieved such a feat was in 2005, when Carrie Underwood’s Some Hearts was released.

“Everybody hopes for the number one, but you never really expect it," says McCreery, who turned 18 on Sunday. “ To see it up there is pretty incredible. It’s a very good birthday present! I can’t think of anything to top it!”
Some 15,000 fans attended his album release party/homecoming concert/birthday celebration at Raleigh’s Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek on October 8, where McCreery was presented with a gold record certifying digital sales of more than 500,000 for the single “I Love You This Big” (see photo).

“It couldn’t have happened to a nicer young man,” says Luke Lewis, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group Nashville, which includes Mercury Nashville.

Scotty McCreery Talks about next year & his God- Given talent

Scotty McCreery Talks About His Plans for Next Year + His ‘God-Given’ Talent
by: Sara D. Anderson 5 hours ago

“Auburn’s coming back — should be interesting,” a confident Scotty McCreery states during the beginning of his interview. The Season 10 ‘American Idol‘ winner is catching some downtime in front of the tube, watching the Auburn vs. Utah State college football game before he has to hit the stage in Uncasville, Conn. for the last leg of the American Idols Live! tour.
With that sort of confidence comes an easygoing persona, which resonates well with the 17-year-old — even when he’s not performing. Of course, America fell in love with him just as soon as he debuted his lower-register Josh Turner vocals, a sly grin, and a distinctive microphone grip. Now the Garner, N.C. native has inked a deal with Mercury Nashville and is getting ready to release his first album, ‘Clear as Day’ on Oct. 4.
McCreery chats with PopCrush about the “good things” with girls, his favorite tracks off the upcoming album, plans for his senior year, and his “God-given” talent, which he cites as his rhythm.
… But his other talent? Trusting his instincts. After our interview, Auburn left with a win, 42 to 38.
You say that you feel like your second single, ‘The Trouble With Girls,’ was written just for you. How do you relate to the lyrics?
I think a lot of guys can relate to these lyrics, a lot of guys and a lot of girls. Girls that like to hear those things said to them, and guys feel, well, for me, it’s tough to say those things, but uh, it’s relatable [sic]. It’s been tough for me these past couple of years, I haven’t had a girlfriend in three or four years now, so, I guess you could say I’ve had trouble with girls … But the song’s not necessarily about that kind of trouble with girls. It’s more of a sweet song, talking about how pretty [they are] and all kinds of good things about the girls.
You’ve mentioned that you are going back to Garner High in September/October to finish up senior year. What are you looking forward to the most?
Just getting back and being somewhat normal. I know it won’t be the same that it was back before I did this, and I’m not expecting it to be — I know my life’s changed. I just want to go back and see people I’ve grown up with and not totally forget about the life I had before this, you know? That’s what made me who I am today. I’m not going to be walking around school with an ‘American Idol’ T-shirt on. I’m going to just be normal, just a normal kid and hopefully things will work out.
Do you think you’ll consider baseball again in the spring? Maybe pitching?
It’s looking like it. Right now we are looking ahead at what our opportunities are. We’re looking at tour dates and stuff, so depending on whether that interferes or not is something we’ll have to look at, but it’s looking like I might be able to get back for a few games and pitch some.
It will always be a huge part of my life. Baseball and music were my two loves growing up, and now I’ve moved more towards a career in music, but that doesn’t mean I have to give up my love for baseball. I may take it up as a hobby — join a rec league or a travel league while I’m performing and stuff, then I’ll definitely do it. Hopefully I can back and play with the boys at the high school. We’ll see how that works out.
You’ve had a few memorable duets since your stint on ‘American Idol.’ Which performance did you have the most fun doing or what was the most memorable and why?
The finale night with Tim McGraw was just incredible. I mean being there, being on that final stage for ‘American Idol’ and singing with one of my idols that I have grown up listening to, it was just an amazing moment to be there. And then, the other one would’ve been singing with Josh Turner at LP field during CMA Fest in Nashville, and walking out on stage and seeing 70,000 people looking at me and flash bulbs going crazy. It was a pretty intense moment, but a lot of fun. Those two definitely stand out.
Tell me what the title track, ‘Clear as Day,’ is about:
It’s a serious song. It’s starts off talking about a football game and a lot of stuff a lot of guys my age, and everybody went through — everybody can relate to it. It talks about the partying after the game, the big victory, but then it gets really serious and takes a big twist so … It’s definitely one of my favorites. I’ve got a few favorites. ‘Trouble With Girls’ is one and this is another one. It’s definitely going to be one worth listening to.
Would you like ‘Clear as Day’ to be your next single?
We’ll see … Hopefully the next single I can put out something a little different. ‘Clear as Day’ is kind of that same ballad-y kind of song, so we’ll see. It’s not like I’m saying I have to do a ballad-y kind of song .. Whatever happens naturally will happen.
You’ve been playing guitar since you were a kid. What’s one of your favorite songs to play?
On my album?
Sure.
Well … I’ve been meaning to ask my manager and my producer for a chord sheet. I’ve been playing the guitar for a while so I know everything about it, it’s just I’m not one of those guys who can listen to a song and pick out [the chords]. So, I need to contact my people a say, ‘Look, can you get me a chord sheet so I can learn these things?’ They need to do it pretty quick because all of the promotion stuff is coming up.
Do you think you might play guitar on your sophomore album?
We’ll see what works out. The musicians in Nashville are out-of-this-world, so I can play the guitar okay, but those guys are just incredible, so I wouldn’t want to sacrifice that just to say I played on my record.
Your guitar teacher Gary Epperson, said: “His very first lesson, he had a strum, he had rhythm, something I’d not seen in a 9 year old.” Where did you learn those techniques at such a young age?
I’m not really 100 percent sure. It’s one of the things he pointed out when my mom would pick me up [from practice] and said, ‘he has such natural rhythm’ … I guess it’s just God-given. You know everybody has that certain thing where God blessed them with something and gives them that special talent whether it’s music or sports or writing or anything. So, just one of those things God blessed me with — the rhythm. I think that’s what he was talking about.
Which pop stars do you listen to and/or like?
Pop? I’ve only listened to country my whole life. But [I like the] Kelly Clarkson stuff she’s doing and she’s about to put out a new album pretty soon, I think. It will be cool to see that. And she’s done some stuff with country artists as well so.
Yep. The Jason Aldean duet, ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay.’
That was incredible. One of the best songs this year.
Lauren Alaina got a marriage proposal last week that was captured on YouTube. Do you get them often?
Yeah, I get marriage proposals, prom proposals. I’ve had ring pops given to me and put on my left hand, my left finger. It’s all funny stuff. We take it, we laugh about it, we go along with it. It’s all in good fun.
What’s your favorite song to perform on the American Idol Live! Tour?
Probably ‘Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not’ or ‘Gone.’ ‘Gone’ is a lot of fun. It’s upbeat, it’s energetic, it gets the crowd into it. It’s probably the favorite.

Scotty McCreery Hasn’t Had a Girlfriend in “Three or Four Years”

Sweet Scotty tellsPopCrush that he hasn’t had a girlfriend since he was – gasp! – 13 or 14. “I haven’t had a girlfriend in three or four years now, so, I guess you could say I’ve had trouble with girls.” That’s not for lack of offers, however! Scotty says Lauren Alaina’s not the only one who’s gotten proposed to this year.  “I get marriage proposals, prom proposals.“

The Idol Season 10 winner will be headed back to high school this fall after the Idols Live tour ends September 22. “I just want to go back and see people I’ve grown up with and not totally forget about the life I had before this, you know?”

Well, where’s the best place to meet a normal, 17-year-old girl? The classroom! But Scotty’s one true love waits for him at home: baseball. And he’s super excited to return to the field — after assessing tour dates and his promotion schedule, “it’s looking like I might be able to get back for a few games and pitch some.”

Lauren says 'I'm just KIDDING!'

After Lauren Alaina planted a big kiss on Scotty McCreery‘s lips when he was crowned the winner of American Idol season 10, buzz circulated that the country-singing cuties were actually a couple! So what’s the real scoop?

Lauren sat down for an interview this morning with syndicated radio show Johnjay and Rich and put the
relationship rumors to rest, denying a romantic connection between her and the new Idol.
“No, we’re not [boyfriend and girlfriend],” Lauren shared. “I was kidding about it last night a lot, but we’re just friends.”

So what about that full-on kiss?
“I was just so happy and in the moment, I don’t know what happened!” Lauren explained, laughing.

While they aren’t boyfriend and girlfriend, Lauren does hope to work with Scotty at some point in the future.

“I’m sure at some point in our careers, we’ll do something together. We talk about it all the time,” she said.

Scotty McCreery talks about his solo carrer

Last night, Scotty McCreery was named American Idol. A lot of interviews were made and a lot of questions were answered. Here's one interview that took place after the coronation:

On how he's handling his new-found fame:
This is pretty wild, I gotta say. It was a whole lot more than I bargained for coming into this. I never would've expected it. But I'm handling it well — it's what I asked for and this is my new life. It's been a crazy ride so far.

On whether he ever doubted himself or thought he would be eliminated:
This week especially. Lauren Alaina, she's something else. She sings like a bird and she's an amazing young lady. But every week — I've heard people say [I'm] the front-runner and the favorite — it never even crossed my mind. Because everyone this year from the Top 40 down was just so talented. It was an amazing ride. I don't think I ever really gave myself a chance as a musician before this show. I've always had confidence in me, but the nerves on this show are something else.

On last night's kiss and whether he's dating Lauren Alaina:
Oh, no. Me and her are more like a brother-sister thing. She told me before the show that she was going to [kiss me] as a joke. So she did. She's a character. She's lovely. We're really close friends because I met her Day 1 of Hollywood Week and we've been schoolmates through this whole experience. She's great, but we've got a brother/sister relationship.

On his future album and who he'd like to collaborate with:
I'm really looking forward to getting my music out there. We've already recorded two [songs] this weekend. We weren't sure which to do, and "I Love You This Big" turned out to be the one we did. But the other [song] I'm really excited about too. I think it's going to be great album. I've gotta pick some good songs. That's what it's all about after the show, because the fans got me to where I am now so it's my job to get them the music they want to hear. Hopefully, me and Lauren Alaina will get to do a duet. I'm not sure it'll be for the first album but hopefully sometime soon.

On why Ryan kept calling him "Scotty the Body":
He told me early on that it was a tradition. I think he's done it for all the Scotts he's had on the show.... It was like a joke. I've been eating too many cookies on the show anyway. I'm not as toned as I was during my baseball days.

On how his voice has developed throughout the competition:
I've kind of always sounded the same — other than when I was younger and had a really high voice. I say Vegas Week was the week I really discovered I could sing higer than I had been singing so far. Ken Stacey, one of the vocal coaches, he kind of got it out of me. I've used that a lot with "Gone" and "That's All Right Mama." I've been singing up higher for a lot of different stuff. I've used my low voice, but I guess you can say that it's changed over the competition.

On why he choose to sing country songs all season:

Well, everyone has their own niche. Casey was singing his jazzy, rocker-growly music. Jacob sang his gospel music. James sang his rock music. I sang my country music. We all kind of have that same niche. They do different songs, but we all have that same genre we like to stick to. Country music is what I grew up with — it's what I do.... If it got me this far why change it up? It's what I love to do.

On finding out that his single "I Love You This Big" is currently No. 1 on iTunes:
Is it really? That's the first I've heard! That's amazing! That is wild. I love the song. This is really wild. The song is a great song. When they pitched it to me, I fell in love with it. Last night when I sang it as my finale song, it was kinda a choked-up performance, but I got through it and hugged my family. It's really amazing that it's No. 1. You're the first to tell me that.

On whether he thought he was going to win American Idol:
My thoughts were that Lauren Alaina wrapped it up when she sang that momma song. That's just one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. I was more than nervous coming into last night. It worked in my favor. But Lauren's sweet. She's been supporting me and I've been supporting her during this whole process. We're close friends and we both came out winners last night.

His closing remarks:Thank you guys so much for everything y'all have done for me. I've done all the work on Idol now and it's time for the real job to start. Thank you so much and I'll be talking to y'all soon.
